Policies

Our goal is to streamline the business side of things and make your time in the studio comfortable, creative, and exciting. The following policies are in place in order to protect our time and keep our rates low. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
what’s included:
  • All of our packages include an engineer and their fee. There are no additional costs, extra charges, or surprises.
  • All sessions include a 5-minute load-in time prior to your session start time, free of charge.
  • Please do not show up earlier than your load-in time, as there may be other projects underway in the studio.
  • We will burn 2 CDs for you free of charge. Additional CDs are $1 each.
  • We don’t charge you for using our hard drive.
  • Of course you can have your session files. Just bring a spacious hard drive.
  • We’ll keep your files on our hard drive for up to 30 days after your last session.
booking & canceling:
  • All scheduling must go through the website – we don’t take appointments over the phone.
  • We are glad to reschedule a session free of charge as long as you notify us more than 48 hours prior to the session.
  • Rescheduling or cancelations within 48 hours of a scheduled session will be subject to a $50 fee.
  • The infamous no-call-no-show will be subject to a $100 fee (we know you would never do this).
  • All of our packages (except gift certificates) are refundable (subject to a $25 service & processing fee) up until 48 hours before your first session.
  • the session:

    • The clock starts ticking when the session is scheduled to start. If you’re running late, please text or call. Sometimes we can get started setting up without you.
    • You are welcome to bring food and drink and use our fridge. If you spill something on our equipment you will be held responsible.
    • You will be held responsible to replace or repair (at the studio’s discretion) anything in the studio that is damaged by your misuse, abuse or negligence.
    • We gladly welcome any visitors or guests (please no babies or children) you would like present while recording, as long as they behave themselves.
    • You are responsible to make sure your visitors know our policies and uphold them.
    • Illegal drug use is absolutely prohibited, as is any kind of smoking inside the studio.
    • Sorry dudes, no E-cigarettes inside the studio.
    your digital files are your responsibility:
    • You are responsible for providing a mac-compatible hard-drive to back up your session files at the end of every session.
    • Citizen Recording is not responsible or liable in any case for the partial or total loss of your files. Computers crash and hard drives fail. It is recommended that you back up all your files every session and keep a second (and maybe third) backup at home. Hard drives are not expensive. Just do it, then we won’t have to worry about it.

    • payment:

      • A 50% deposit is required before booking time. No exceptions.
      • The balance owed to the studio is due immediately at the end of the session.
      • In the event we go over your scheduled time, you must pay the balance in full at the end of the session.
      • In the event we schedule more time to finish your project, payment in full or additional deposit may be required.
      • In any case, no tracks or files will be delivered until full payment has been received and cleared.
      • Gift certificates are not refundable.
      • If you make arrangements to pay us by check, you may have to wait for the check to clear before booking time.
      • If your check bounces, you will incur a $25 fee. You’ll then have to pay your deposit or balance with cash or card before continuing.
      • In the event of a refund or partial refund, you may have to wait 3-10 business days for the transaction to be completed.
